Our Top 5, Local Wedding Venues
We have been providing entertainment at weddings for a good number of years and thought we would share with you some of the venues that we have been most impressed by. Not just for the sheer ‘wow’ factor of the setting but for the extra attention and care the staff present to their clients.
De Vere Cranage Estate – Holmes Chapel
The Cranage Estate is the perfect backdrop for a magical wedding venue. Set in the heart of rural Cheshire this Grade II listed building can accommodate both large and small wedding parties and the beautifully manicured grounds offer the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs. We especially like the intimate outdoor garden pagoda, which is a beautiful setting if you choose to take your vows outdoors.
The Appleton Suite, with its period features, makes for a perfect wedding breakfast setting. The large beautifully framed period window fills the room with light and the high ceiling provides a sense of space and grandeur to mark the occasion.
The wedding team at Cranage look after you from the outset and their executive chef will work closely with you to ensure you are happy with every detail of the catering.
We spend most of our time organising the night-time Receptions here so can attest to Cranage being a great space for the evening festivities, plus the Spa and its facilities are a perfect treat the morning after!
Sandhole Oak Barn - Congleton
This venue is a hidden gem. Set beside a tranquil lake, Sandhole Oak Barn is surrounded by 400 acres of rolling Cheshire countryside. Purpose built with weddings in mind, this is a family run business and as such, they really run the gauntlet to provide bespoke weddings. We love the fact that the food is sourced locally and their mantra is ‘fresh and seasonal’. It has even featured on ‘’Don’t Tell the Bride”. If you are looking for a unique venue, this is definitely worth a visit.
Colshaw Hall - Over Peover
If you are looking for prestigious and spectacular, then Colshaw Hall has to be one to consider. The Hall (part of the Irlam family’s country estate) is set in beautiful gardens, including the exquisite Walled Garden and the stunning Magnolia Garden (perfect for spring weddings).
For parties and wedding receptions, the Peel Suite is a 180 capacity banqueting hall, complete with a stylish bar overlooking beautiful walled gardens. Colshaw Hall promises exclusivity, which means you and your guests will not be hampered by other events, plus they have the new addition of the eco-lodges which your guests can enjoy.
The Mere Hotel and Spa - Knutsford
The Mere know how to do weddings. Catering from small to grand scale events, they have spaces suitable for parties ranging from 60 to 550. Once again framed with a stunning backdrop of the serene Mere Lake, Mere provides an opulent setting for your big day. Their award-winning chef offers a selection of chic menu packages and trust us the food is good!
To top it off, The Mere is set in the beautiful grounds of an 18 hole championship golf course with brilliant spa facilities including a 20m indoor pool. What better way to de-stress in the run-up to your big day or after the celebrations?
The Midland Hotel - Manchester
For our last venue, we had to go a little urban and offer a change to the rural idylls we have suggested. The Midland Hotel in Manchester, voted the second favourite building by Manchester Evening News readers in 2012, offers buckets of style for your special day. Built in the early 1900s, the classically Edwardian baroque interior provides a stylish and elegant backdrop for your big occasion. The high ceilings and sumptuous decoration really are timeless.
During your stay here, why not treat yourself to a dining experience at Simon Rogan's acclaimed ‘The French' which is housed in the Midland Hotel? To boot, you have the City of Manchester as your playground which is sure to offer something for all of your guests' tastes!
